Free Festive Spirit in Bristol
December may be a wonderful time of year – but it can also be a bit spenny! However, it’s possible to get into the holiday mood without spending a penny. Here are some of our top tips on having a perfect Christmas Time…on a budget.
First off, a Christmas market. Millennium Square has been transformed into a winter playground this festive season – and it’s free! With rides, food stalls and a cosy après-bar, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – even if you just fancy wandering around to soak up the atmosphere.Open daily from Friday 10th November to 2nd January (closed Christmas Day).
Fancy something a bit more continental? The German Christmas Market is back, complete with hot chocolate, mulled wine, plenty of food options, and a mini Ferris wheel to boot. If you’re lucky you might even be able to grab an igloo or your very own ski cabin to sit in and enjoy your drinks away from the biting cold. There are also rides for the children, and plenty of vendors to get through some of your Christmas shopping.
Join Prior Shop in celebrating their sustainable design fair Meet the Maker! Running on various weekends in December, this design fair will be a treasure trove of unique and beautiful products. From handmade ceramics to slow-fashion clothing, you’ll be sure to find some fantastic gifts for your loved ones (or yourself!). To find out more, click here.
The Made in Bristol Gift Fair is your essential hub for all of the best locally made and produced gifts. For a weekend, over 200 Bristol designers will be at the Bristol Beacon selling textiles, ceramics, and just about anything else that can be made by hand. Not only can you pick up gifts for everyone, but it is also a chance to see the newly renovated Bristol Beacon! Take this opportunity to have a nosy around their refreshed facilities and get yourself a treat.
They say the best things in life are free, and we’re sure you’d agree that winter walks around Bristol falls perfectly into this! Stretch your legs and enjoy some sightseeing around the city this December on trails around Brandon Hill Park, Ashton Court and many more. Take a look at our guide to the best free activities blog for more info.
If you fancy something a little more urban, we’d recommend having an evening stroll around Clifton Village. With cobbled streets festooned with twinkling lights, it’s always magical at this time of year.
Whatever your plans, make sure you save on accommodation - we're offering a huge 15% discount off our longer-term stays at the moment.
