Top Clifton Cafes
Clifton is perhaps best known for its boutique shops, quaint streets and cute cafes, which makes it very difficult to pick our favourites! We’ve narrowed down the endless list of Clifton Cafés to a select few that we really think are worth a visit, so whether you’re in Bristol for a weekend, a week, or a longer stay, make sure you pay these a visit:
You can find the Caffe Clifton on St Pauls Road, at the foyer to The Clifton Hotel. Renowned for it’s variety of organic loose teas and delicious coffees (which they get from local roasters Clifton Coffee), the café is popular with both hotel guests and locals. With a fun range of furniture, you can relax on the futon sofas with a good book or sit and focus on your laptop if you prefer. They also serve up a range of sweet treats from local bakers if you fancy the odd snack! Larger groups can also reserve the entire space for gatherings; such as hen dos, baby showers, and afternoon tea parties.
The Archhouse Deli is a gorgeous delicatessen in the picturesque Clifton Village. This Mediterranean style café has outdoor seating in the summer months too, so sit outside and soak up the bustling street. Sample a platter of olives, charcuterie, artisan cheeses and a selection of breads, and enjoy this in luxury with a double espresso, or if you’re feeling particularly fancy, a refreshing glass of fine wine (or two, who are we to judge?)
Ideally located on the busy Clifton Triangle, Friska has a great selection of coffee and teas as well as refreshing Frappes and Frulattis! The independent Bristol-based coffee chain offer a range of hot and cold food too. For a very reasonably priced and delicious lunch try the Vietnamese Pho Noodles or a BBQ Pulled Pork Booyah Hotbox – sooo good.
Now an award winning chain of cafés, Boston Tea Party began in Bristol and each of its cafés retains a unique and local feel. The company is passionate about coffee and all of the food and drinks are ethically sourced, and affordable, as well as being simple yet scrumptious. In Clifton 3 Boston Tea Party’s can be found; one in the village, one on Whiteladies Road, as well as one on Park Street. A BTP visit is a must during any stay in Bristol!
Rumour has it, one’s instagram account is not complete without a snap from East Village Café! We particularly recommend heading there for brunch, particularly for the homemade beans on toast or avocado on toast! They also do ridiculously tasty superfood lattes FYI.
