September in Bristol

With the start of September comes the start of Autumn, something that we are still undecided about whether it is a good thing or not. Saying goodbye to those long summer evenings in the sunshine, glass of wine in hand is going to be a struggle. However, we've done our research and found lots of great things to keep you busy this month, not to mention Great British Bake Off is back, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Oktoberfest 2016

What better to start the month with than Oktoberfest. Yes you did hear right, Oktoberfest in September…we questioned it too! Apparently the festival has over the years been brought forward due to better weather and so everyone can enjoy the celebration a little longer! Bristol is lucky enough to have it from the 1st - 4th so plenty of time to enjoy many a German beer and a Bratwurst. Crack out the Lederhosen and we’ll see you there!

Bristol Biennial 2016: In Other Worlds

So if you drank one to many over at Oktoberfest then we have just the thing. Bristol Biennial 2016: In Other Worlds gives you the opportunity to explore the world from various perspectives, from human to non-human, present to future and many more. A festival and celebration of art that is set to be both relaxing and enlightening and just what the doctor ordered to get rid of that sore head.

Bristol Burlesque Festival

The second weekend of the month brings something that we are very excited about. Not for the faint hearted, Bristol Burlesque Festival is back for its fourth year and promises to be ‘bigger and badder’ than ever. Burlesque talent from all over the world will be shaking what their mamas gave them to impress on stage at venue Smoke and Mirrors. We’ll be heading down to catch the show and in the hope of picking up some moves! Get your tickets here.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at Tobacco Factory Theatres

Moving on, this one we think will be a winner with everyone. Who doesn’t love the childhood favourite that is The Wizard of Oz. Brought to the Tobacco Factory by comedy theatre company Le Navet Bete, it is set to be the classical story we all know and love with a fantastic twist. Join Dorothy and Toto and the rest of the gang on their journey down the yellow brick road…book your tickets here to find out whether they make it or not!

Bristol Sunset Cinema: The Lego Movie

The next treat we have in store for you stays on topic with another childhood love. On the 23rd Bristol Sunset Cinema will be presenting The Lego Movie at Ashton Court Mansion. Now this Lego probably won’t be how you remember…it’s walking, talking and saving the world in this movie (sorry, spoiler alert), but we can guarantee you’ll still love it. Grab a picnic and dare we day it, a date and enjoy the evening!
