June in Bristol

Is it really June already…?! Don’t despair! The year may have flown by already but this month is jam-packed full of great things to do so we don’t mind too much!

Let’s Rock Bristol – The Retro Festival

So let’s start the month as we mean to go on then. The first weekend of the month brings Let’s Rock Festival. It will be back at Ashton Court for its fourth year and we can’t wait! The thing that’s got us really excited, it’s the Retro edition, bringing you all of your favourites from the 80s!  Highlights include UB40, Paul Young and Snap!

Tickets are available now from the Tourist Information Centre on the Harbourside.

Sunset Specials at Bristol Zoo

Bristol Zoo is giving you the chance to see the Zoo in a whole new light again this year with their successful Sunset Specials returning from the 17th June. Add a bit more magic to your Zoo trip and wander the site at dusk. You will also be able to catch animal talks and enjoy food and drink on the lawn. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!

Bristol Shakespeare Festival

Not really feeling this one? Fear not, this is Shakespeare but not how you know it. The Bristol Shakespeare Festival brings together all the newest and most exciting Shakespeare productions in some of the very best outdoor spaces in Bristol. Old school play with a modern twist, now we are interested. Add a warm summer evening and we’re all in. This event runs from 8th June - 29th July so you have plenty of time to catch a show.

Big Green Week

Big Green Week is retuning to our eco-conscious city for its fifth year this month. In a bid to help the city become a zero-carbon city by 2050 Big Green Week will be celebrating the best social and environmental projects that have already begun and that are planned for the future. Get involved and find out what you can do to help. Our highlight is the Bristol Grand Prix, which is of course, a bike race. All people power here! Find the full programme from 11th June online now.

 Bristol Summer Series

So we couldn’t talk about the hottest events in June without mentioning the Bristol Summer Series. If you missed out on Glastonbury tickets then this one is definitely going to help with the disappointment! And to be honest with a line up of James Bay, Sigur Rós, The Last Shadow Puppets and Catfish and the Bottlemen it may even are better than Glastonbury! Be sure to head on down to the Harbourside from the 22nd to 25th and soak up the atmosphere.
