January in Bristol
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Well...almost happy new year because January is right around the corner and we're determined to make 2017 the best year yet! Shake off '16 and embrace all that Bristol has to offer as we move into January. As always, we've searched Bristol for the best things to do to start the new year off with a bang.
The Bristol Sessions Live: Ruth Royal 14th Jan
Ruth Royal, a versitile and extremely accomplished singer and performer will be presenting the biggest of Bristol Sessions Live this January. She promises to inject a serious amount of soul into what is already a rich, soulful evening. What could be better than listening to Bristol's very best to begin 2017?
Bristol Potato Day & Seed Fair 15th Jan
You read correctly, Bristol has a potato day. Every year keen gardiners, potato enthusiasts and seed collectors gather to celebrate these wonderous roots and we're very glad they do. Windmill Hill City Farm are set to host this annual event which actually celebrates far more than potatos. Boasting organic and heritage seeds, fruit trees and bushes, you can purchase a huge range of incredible edibles for the beginner to the seasoned gardiner.
Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!
Slapstick Festival 18th - 22nd Jan
Keeping the beauty of silent and classic cinema alive through the joy of comedy, the Slapstick Festival 2017 is shaping up to be a real contender for the New Year. 2017 showcases the wonderful women of comedy, great European directors and pays tribute to three stand out comedians who live on through their incredible performances. If you've been before, expect the usual high standard of programming and if this is your first time, well...you're in for a real treat.
Lou Lou's Vintage Fair 21st Jan
Having won the award for Best Vintage Fair THREE years in a row, you can expect the highest quality fair for their biggest yet in the UK, right here in Bristol. Taking place in the Passenger Shed (next door to Temple Meads) Lou Lou's Vintage Fair will set up row upon row of top vintage fashion from the 1980's all the way back to the Roaring Twenties. Enjoy beautifully presented teas and cakes whilst you sift through the treasures on offer. I heard flapper dresses were back in style..
Dune Series: #7 Free House 27th Jan
The Arnolfini are hosting Dune Series, a collection of music events and online mixes that delve into and celebrate Bristol's rich underground electronic music scene. #7 Free House rounds up our month of events on a high note. This party offers the chance for punters to revell in the artistry of mixing as all genres of electronic music are blended together in a fresh look at the scene. We've selected #7 Free House but we also recommend checking out the other numbers in the series, you will not be disappointed.
