Drink and Dine in Clifton
Here in Clifton, there is no shortage of places to eat! Everywhere you go you are surrounded by great quality restaurants, varying in menu from classic British dishes to authentic Indian street food. Here are a few of our favourites…
The Townhouse is great for its delicious, immaculately presented British food. Try the 3 course set lunch menu for £10- its great value for money and you’ll leave feeling full! Alternatively, head down on a Sunday for a hearty roast lunch.
We recommend: The Crackling Pork Belly- served with apple ratatouille, black pudding and creamy garlic potatoes.
Not your everyday Indian restaurant. Here at the Thali, authentic Indian street food is served in a stylish and colourful setting. Vegetarians will find a great selection of dishes, and there is a wide range of local drinks on offer. You can even buy your own Tiffin box for a takeaway from this unique restaurant!
We recommend: The Southern Thali Fish Curry- this delicious authentic Goan curry is unlike anything you will find at your local takeaway!
This infamous Clifton restaurant serves British food with a ‘touch of class’! The Clifton Sausage is a one of a kind establishment serving top quality British sausages with classic mash and onion gravy. At least six varieties of sausage appear on the menu at anyone time and range from Cotswold lamb with mint and apricot, to beef with beetroot and vodka!
We recommend: The Glamorgan – Caerphilly and cheddar cheese, leeks and wholegrain mustard served with champ (mash with spring onions) and onion gravy!
This elegant restaurant is perfect for a relaxed summer evening. Located right in the heart of the idyllic Clifton Village, No.4’s award winning menu changes daily to serve the freshest seasonal food. Come along early and enjoy a drink in the garden before you eat!
We recommend: Their Organic Steak with Hand cut Chips. Every Monday it is just £10… what’s not to like?!
The Alma Tavern is a pub with a twist as it’s also a thriving local theatre with great productions held upstairs nearly every day of the week – you can even take your pint in with you! This beautifully set out pub serves proper, hearty food all year round. Specially selected seasonal produce complimented by fine wines!
We recommend: Summer Garden Risotto followed by Strawberry and Vanilla Cheesecake with almonds and honeycomb.
Small dishes of Thai classics served in a beautiful restaurant with a lovely ambiance. The décor is elegant and the food is quintessentially Thai. You won’t be able to resist these flavoursome Thai Tapas dishes.
We recommend: Massamann Lamb and the Koh Special Crispy Squid washed down with a Kohtini Cocktail
Serving a variety of tasty yet affordable food! Try the great value £5 lunch menu and you won’t be disappointed. This varied menu includes salmon nicoise, ciabatta sandwiches with fries, gorgeous risotto and beef and ale pie – all for just a fiver! Fresh, quality food in a friendly environment where your individual needs will be catered for.
We recommend: Chilli Nachos- these nachos topped with chilli, salsa, sour cream and guacamole are great for sharing whilst watching one of the many sporting events shown in Racks Bar.
Located just off the vibrant Clifton Triangle, The Square serves award-winning food in a stylish setting. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant takes classic British ingredients and creates exciting new dishes. Highly recommended to all foodies out there!
We recommend: The Saddle of Rabbit- served with fondant potato, sweetcorn, clams and flowers…our mouths are watering!
