Best Bars in Bristol for an After Work Drink
In case you haven't yet heard... Bristol has just been voted into the TOP TEN cities to live in the World. If you ask us it was a long time coming. We already know how great a place Bristol is to live!
One of our favourite things about this wonderful city is the abundance of great places to head to for that well needed after work drink. That liquid saviour that gets you to the end of the working week…well mid-week if you really want to know! If we're honest we have probably been heading to a few too many watering holes when the clocks strikes 5pm, but it’s the summertime and what's more inviting than an ice cold drink in the sunshine?! So if you fancy joining us here are our recommendations.
To start with let’s talk about a new addition to the Bristol scene. Bambalan is the latest venture from the Hyde and Co team and has certainly made its mark on the map. Offering both cocktails and food, all served up on their fantastic rooftop terrace this one is quickly becoming a firm favorite with us. Head down for a jug of their Summer Cup, on our recommendation, and catch the last of the summer sun. We’ll see you there.
Now if you’re in the know, then you will have heard of the infamous speak easy Red Light. Hidden away in plain sight, the only giveaway is the Red Light above what looks like a run-down, graffiti covered doorway. Pick up the payphone, press the button and in you go…pretty cool hey and just the fun you need after a long day! Feel like you have gone back in time with their 1950’s décor and escape from your day to day.
Next on the list is known for its extensive range of Whiskeys, so if you are in need of something a little stronger than the average head up Park Street to The Woods. True to its name the walls are decorated with a range of moths, butterflies and animal skulls to marvel at while you sink into one of their Chesterfield sofas, tipple in hand and take a load off. We promise that the walk up Park Street is worth it!
We couldn’t talk about after work drinking spots without mentioning The Apple, we are in Bristol after all. Now we all know that the West Country is the home of the liquid gold we call cider and if you live in Bristol then it’s mandatory that you drink it...whether you like it or not. Moored at the end of King Street, you will find the floating home of all your cider desires. Be sure to fit a meal round this one though as the ciders here pack a punch!
Last, but very much not least and a winner we think with all you creative types is Bocabar. Hidden amongst an array of workshops and studio spaces that make up Paintworks on Bath Road, it’s the perfect place to wind down after a busy day in the city. Not to mention the fact with all the creative hot spots surrounding it, it’s also a great place to network. Not only can you treat yourself to that glass of Pinot, but you can work on your contact list too!
